Lipon plus is named after the fatty acid alpha-lipoic acid. As our mitochondria can partially produce it themselves, it is not an essential nutrient.
As a cofactor of enzymes, alpha-lipoic acid is mainly found in our mitochondria, the "power stations of our cells". Animal tissues with high energy requirements, such as red meat, liver, heart and kidneys, provide a correspondingly high amount of alpha-lipoic acid. Plant sources include spinach, tomatoes, peas and Brussels sprouts.
In addition to alpha-lipoic acid, Lipon plus provides essential vitamins B1, B3 and biotin, which are important nutrients for energy metabolism and the nervous system. The combination of nutrients is rounded off with chromium, which contributes to the maintenance of normal blood sugar levels.
